I knew God didn't exist.
— The first Pope in the Robes' probation

The Catholic Church is a religious organization and the largest Christian church in the world, headquartered in Vatican City, Rome. In fact, they are one of the six societies controlled by the Shadow Board and help to govern the world for them.

History[]

The Catholic Church was founded around 1054 AD and became one of the largest religious institutions of the world, turning the Roman city of Vatican their headquarters. Its unknown if they were created by the Shadow Board or the Robes took control eventually. Along with the other 5 secret societies, they participates in the Bohemian Grove festival each year.

In 2021, when the Robes announced a vacancy on their council, the Pope, leader of the Church, was summoned to participate in an probation to decide who would take the position. The Pope was the first victim of the labyrinth, killed by a bunch of snakes. Another Pope was chosen to take his place and he was way more liberal than the traditional customs of the Church.

Project Hell[]

Eventually, the Church made a deal with Cognito Inc., another organization controlled by the Shadow Board. In exchange for funding, Cognito would build a fake Hell beneath the Vatican to make people fear God's wrath and convert to the Catholic faith, further increasing their influence and power. However, the new Pope decided to shut Project Hell as he disagreed with the ideia.

Therefore, Rand Ridley sent his daughter Reagan, along with her boyfriend Ron Staedtler, to Rome to brainwash the Pope into a "hardcore conservative" into approving the construction of a fake hell. However, due to some changes made by Reagan to the brainwash device, the plan backfired and Hell spread to the surface, destroying much of Rome and killing a lot of people.

Eventually, the duo fixed the device and the crises was over and everything seemly were back to normal. In the end, the search for confession in the church skyrocketed after the disaster, fulfilling their deal with Cognito in one way or another.
