"Buzzkill" is the 8th episode of the first season of the series Inside Job. It premiered on October 22, 2021, along with the rest of Part 1.
Synopsis[]
"Desperate to get some space from her father, Reagan volunteers for a dangerous mission to the moon to make contact with a rogue colony."
Plot[]
Reagan remembers an experiment she conducted as a child which led to her father traumatizing her, eventually yelling at him and storming away in anger. Reagan confides to her co-workers about problems with her dad and finds out they will be going to the Moon, where there is a free-love commune of astronauts who refuse to leave, with the Moon being declared a rogue nation while Ken Burns helped film the Moon landing. Reagan and Brett go on a dangerous mission to the moon to check out a distress call. Reagan goes back to her place to prepare to go to the moon, with Rand telling her that he and her mom went to the moon as part of a sex tourism trip. Reagan and Brett make it to the moon and are amazed at the advanced city built there, led by Buzz Aldrin, who has survived without aging thanks to the moon's low gravity. This is interrupted when Rand comes to the Moon, annoying Reagan, who wants some space from him. When Rand confronts Buzz about sleeping with Tamiko, Reagan becomes convinced that Buzz Aldrin is her father, even though her father tells her that isn't the case, and bonds with Brett over "daddy issues." The fake Buzz Aldrin goes rogue, and the team try to track him down before he exposes the conspiracy. Reagan's dad and Brett go to the original Moon landing site and discover that Neil Armstrong was murdered, leading them both to worry about Reagan's safety. Buzz Aldrin tries to convince Reagan to stay on the Moon, asking if she is respected on Earth. He reveals his plan to move the moon away from the earth, which would cause humanity's destruction. Reagan runs and deactivates the Moon's power supply, and she and Rand have a heart-to-heart. Buzz escapes, Melvin is captured but gets to be "Buzz Aldrin" again, while Reagan, Rand, and Brett go back to Earth. In the final scene, Myc tells viewers that the Moon landing was real and asks Buzz Aldrin not to sue them.
