History[]
Air Bud hails from a parallel dimension where the Air Bud films were documentaries. His presence in the main timeline poses a threat to humanity, because a dog being better than human at sports would trigger a canine revolution that would see them become the dominant species on Earth. Upon discovering Air Bud, Brett wants to protect the dog, rather than destroy him. He first challenges Air Bud to a basketball competition, as if he could beat the dog, Brett can prove that dogs won't evolve as a dominant species and overthrow humans, and he wouldn't need to be killed. Air Bud wins the game, but instead of killing the dog, Brett tried to drive away with him and planned to release him into the wild, armed with a firearm for defense. The team stopped him, but Brett still refused to kill Air Bud. However, he realized he wouldn't have to if there were was a rule, barring dogs from playing basketball, and he used the Cognito connections to make it possible. Air Bud became Brett's new friend, and soon developed the ability to speak Brett's name and walk on its hind legs, displaying a rapid growth in its evolution.
Relationships[]
Brett Hand[]
Brett discovers Air Bud while he leads the Gang in a mission to remove all plot holes from their timeline. He finds himself unable to kill such a cute dog, and tries to find a nonviolent way to save humanity. He attempts to beat Air Bud in a fair game of one on one basketball, but loses horrifically. He is afraid he will have to kill Buddy, but realizes that if he passes legislation to ensure that dogs can't play basketball against humans then there will be a rule in the rulebook and Airbud will be able to stay. After Reagan returned from Appleton, Air Bud was able to say Brett's name, for the first time.[1]
