The year 2024 is about to end. The fandom is still alive.
I just finished the entire series. im fucking sobbing. REGAN AND STAEDTLER WERE MY ROMAN EMPIRE, MY COMFORT SHIP, THEY WERE ENDGAME?!??!?!?!?!? WHY DID IT HAVE TO END SO SADLY YET HAPPILY??!??!?!!? I HATE BITTERSWEET ENDINGS 😭😭😭😭
I HATE TV 😭😭😭😭😭
Under the trivia on Reagan's profile, someone put that her birthdate was April 14. Is there like a birth certificate somewhere hidden in the show???
Hello! I just finished watching inside job a while ago (I LOVED it) and decided to see if there was a wiki fandom for it, and there is! I love how everything looks here. I'll be lingering around :)
INSIDE JOB Theory - The Shadow Council is playing Cognito Inc
New Theory!
The basic premise of Inside Job is that the World has gotten significantly more complex, and thus harder to covertly run, thus the Deep State needs help doing so leading to the creation of the titular company. However, once you start to scratch beneath the surface, this doesn't really seem to be the case
The two main stated goals of the Shadow Council are to maintain Control over the World and, according to Reagan in Ep 6, make enormous amounts of Money. Except we never really see much been done to further either of these Goals
The only attempts seen at maintaining Power we see been done are 1) their attempt to replace the President with a Robot, then cover everything up when things went wrong, and 2) when they buy out the dating app RightSwipe in order to blackmail "the two remaining branches of Government we don't control" with dick pics in Ep 4, even though they're whole shtick is supposed to be that they "run the world".
And attempts to get money seem questionable at best, it's established in the first episode that Cognito Inc controls the stock market, which is reinforced in ep 8, but by the second episode have "run out" of money and have to make budget cuts, then in following episode seek out funding from the Reptoids, even though that just by sheer virtue of controlling the World's Economy, they really should have "all the money in the World"
The only other thing we see been done to make the company, and thus the Shadow Board money, is Still Valley, a town been perpetually kept in the 80's via Nostalgia Max and sold over-stocked and recalled items, yet the logic behind this falls apart when you start to question just how much money a small American Town in the middle of nowhere, isolated from the rest of the World, really has. And then there's the factoring all the things needed just to keep such a town running, including stuff like consistently running 80's TV programming, stocking up discontinued foods and beverages, printing period accurate dollar bills, making sure noone accidentally stumbles upon the town or any of it's inhabitants leave and so on, and that's not even getting into inflation and how much it must cost to properly maintain the very recalled product they wish to sell. Hell, even the jet fuel needing to fly over the town probably costs more than what Cognito Inc makes from the sales
While other attempts at making money are seen, they're mainly just J.R.'s attempts to make money for himself via embezzlement
Though what we do hear about is just how much money they do spend, like in episode 8, it's mentioned that they have NASA spend a fortune to stop Atlantis from appearing on Satellite images, and another fortune to cover up the existence of the secret ninth planet Shmercury
Another couple of weird things is that even though we're told that the Shadow Council needs Cognito Inc's help with running the World
A) They don't seem to be very good at it, with top brass making multiple screw ups and their operations can very easily be exposed, with the Ep 9 revealing that they can be brought down with just a single file detailing everything conspiracy they're behind been leaked and Ep 8 having them failing to stop Melvin (the guy they hired to play Buzz Aldrin) from blabbing the truth behind the Moon Landing to everyone after they fire him and spend most of the episode unable to even catch/kill him simply cause he's wearing roller skates
And B) They're not even the only organization the Shadow Council has doing such work, with the Illuminati been mentioned multiple times as a rival organization that also works for the Shadow Council, and it's not simply a case of them been different divisions in a larger operation, with it been explicitly stated that they compete for the same gigs and funding, doing much of the same work
None of it really makes sense, been extremely counter-intuitive with multiple contradictions over-lapping each other, until you consider that it all might just be a lie.
Which raises the question: What is the Shadow Council really doing with Cognito Inc?
For starters, let's that a look the Cognito's Inc's main roster:
First there's Reagan, a world class super genius who can create sentient AI with high powered robotic bodies in her basement and effortless assemble high tech gadgetry and weapons out of mundane items and scraps lying about. Same can be said of her father, Rand
Next is Brett, a man with a face generic enough that it can't be found with Satellites, yet is also handsome enough to have people constantly give him adoration, along with large amounts of free money and expensive items, who's also sociable enough to instantly win people over and infiltrate almost any group or secure location
Then there's Gigi, who can effortless manipulate the masses, even advanced AI's, into doing her bidding, invented selfies to trick people into surveilling themselves and is an expert in subliminal messaging
Glenn is an extremely patriotic veteran who's a master military tactician, an expert combatant, with enough ruthlessness and engineering expertise to assemble high powered weaponry and be chosen to design Shadow Prison X's torture devices, who driven enough to undergo experiment surgery to make himself a super-soldier with advance mobility underwater and control over marine life
Andre is a crazed scientist who can effortlessly create deadly diseases, chemical cocktails and truth serums and is a constant thrill seeker, whether that be from getting high, having crazed sex, been told harsh truths and who knows what else
Myc is an immortal telepathic Mushroom who's secretions can erase minds
And finally there's J.R. a sociopathic businessman who'd do anything to get ahead, can easily navigate chaotic situations and even terrifies people who regularly work with actual supervillains
Now ask yourself a basic question: What if any of them started to actively fight against the Shadow Council? To actively rebel?
Chances are they'd be a real hindrance to the Shadow Council's operations, and be really hard to eliminate. But what if instead of trying and potentially failing to eliminate a possible threat, they simply pacified it? Gave them something to do, kept them distracted, or even complacent? The equivalent of jangling a pair of keys in front of a baby...
And how better to do that than to give them what they want. Let Reagan "change the world", hand Rand some "real power", give Brett his "validation", allow Gigi to "manipulate the masses", provide Glenn with a "patriotic mission", help Andre "get high" and permit J.R. to "make all the money in the world". And just to make sure they don't get out of line, keep them all in a centralized location where they can be easily observed, give them something to do so that they remain occupied and make it seem important so that they don't ask to many questions or seek to go elsewhere.
Something like "helping the Shadow Council run the World"
And that's all Cognito Inc really is
With that in mind it also starts to explain some other inconsistencies about the on-goings of the Company, like how in Ep 10, the Shadow Council say that they knew about J.R.'s embezzling all along, but didn't do anything about it until he was on the verge of becoming a Robe. How they don't voice any complaints when Reagan begins trying to take Cognito Inc in a different direction even though they're supposed to serve the Shadow Council's interests. Or why they haven't retired Grassy Noel Atkinson, even though he hasn't had a mission in over 60 years and yet is paid more than anyone else at the company
It even explains why they let Rand be CEO again, even though he was fired for been incredibly unstable and trying to blow up the Sun, and clearly has no intention of actually doing what the Shadow Council wants (Which is confirmed in the Season 2 promo). And well, before, he was staying with his daughter who worked for them, and thus they could easily keep him close by and observed even if he didn't work for them anymore, but since she decided to kick him out, so might as well put him back in so he doesn't wander off or do something detrimental to them
Hell, a regular company could've figured out Andre's Doctorate was fake, you think they couldn't?
But this raises yet another question: If the Shadow Council doesn't actually need Cognito Inc to rule the world, then what is their real plan for doing so?
Chances are we can deduce it by looking for more inconsistencies, and where better to start than with Rafe Masters
We get introduced to him in Ep 6, where he helps save the team from a hijacking out at sea, and we get a more in-depth look into his character in the following episode where he's shown to be a possessive, sex-obsessed misogynist with stalker tendencies who finds actually conversing with women to be actual torture. Except...
Earlier in the episode we see him trying to initiate a proper conversation with Reagan, not just once but twice, first is in the flashback where he introduces himself to her, and second is when he offer to make her breakfast. You generally don't offer to have a meal with someone if you don't intend to actually talk with them.
The breakfast scene also contradicts the supposed "possessive stalker" side to him, as when Reagan goes to leave, he's somewhat offended that she's walking out on him, but doesn't even try to do anything to stop, and it's not like the ninja henchman were preventing him from going after her, they were so much of a non-threat that he was paying more attention into making the aforementioned breakfast. Instead he respect her wishes and just lets her leave without any fuss, which also contradicts him been a "misogynist"
But later on, after a bit of time has passed in-universe, Rafe shows up at Cognito Inc and starts regularly invading Reagan's privacy, preemptively declaring her to be his girlfriend, can't go two seconds without talking about sex in someway and just been really pushy in general
Another weird thing to note is Reagan herself, she claims at the end of Ep 7 that Rafe is a "corny, regressive stereotype and the only people who [Rafe is] cool are Dads, and people who didn't have Dads" which everyone seems to agree with, even though throughout the entire episode literally everyone gushes over Rafe, and even state that it would be an honor to be killed by him. Even Reagan's regret from sleeping with him is less about that fact that she slept with Rafe and more that she engaged in a "drunken fling"
And at the beginning of Ep 7 she implies that the hook-up only happened because she was drunk, and in the flashback she's shown to be completely hammered, but at the en of Ep 6, Rafe hits on a completely sober Reagan and she wholeheartedly accepts;
Rafe Masters: I hear you handled yourself quite famously with those Pirates, are you interesting in... any other type of "sea-men"?
Reagan: Normally that'd be a "Hell No!", but I have been inspired by my Mom to say "yes" to me for once, and you have an accent! (proceeds to start intensely make out with Rafe)
And when it comes to the timing of everything, as Tomiko was "married" at sunset, after which they immediately boarded Rafe's boat, and the Ep 7 flashback takes place at Dusk, meaning not much time passed between those two events, yet Reagan somehow went from being completely sober to totally wasted, yet we know she can hold her liquor as we see her drinking multiple times throughout the show
None of this can't be explained by lose continuity, as Inside Job is a continuity heavy show and multiple references to the events of the previous episode are made by various character throughout Ep 7. But it's not like they work for people with access to Memory Erasing and Mind Control technologies... Oh wait, they do, and it's even brought up multiple times throughout Ep 7
Something else that's unusual in Episodes 6 & 7 is that Private gun ownership is viewed by the characters as a bad thing, in Ep 6 Reagan say "[The Flat-Earthers] are adult men who still use chatrooms, of course they have guns" and by the end of Ep 7 Brett states "It almost like guys with weapons are compensating for something", with both somehow equating gun ownership with been insecure, pathetic and/or an outright loser. An unusual view to be held them, considered that they themselves have to use weapons on an almost daily basis just to do their jobs and to protect themselves from various threats.
Another unusual attitude seen throughout the series is Women been attracted to Docile Men, particularly in Ep 4, with Glenn and Brett undergoing a body swap to see who'd fair better, with Glenn quickly getting getting the attention of two hot babes who later blow him off for been a jerk, while Brett fairs horribly at first, but ends up having sex with Glenn's ex-wife. What's unusual about this is that she goes from been irritated by him to been so aroused that she forces herself onto him in less than 30 seconds, and what causes it is him been docile.
Reagan herself also displays similar traits, with the fact that Brian is quite submissive to be something she finds attractive. But while been Kind and a Good Listener are important components in a good relationship, it's generally something that matters for a long-term relationship and building an emotional bond, and is not known for been a cause for arousal. Let's face it, if been overly meek and were things that generally turned women on, alot more nerds would be getting laid
What does generally turn women on is assertiveness. And as anyone who's even remotely familiar with hook-up culture can tell you, a lot of douche guys tend to get together with hot babes by been Attractive and Assertive, they don't usually maintain a long relationship due to been jerks, but they have no problems getting together with women. Which is what makes the Girls rejection on Glenn unusual.
You see, Glenn and Brett had their body-swap done at the same time Reagan built a robot version of Brain to practice date with, Glenn then met the Girls for the first time the following day, Rand then comes home, is surprised to see Robot Brain and mention he was only gone for 2 days, meaning that by the time Brett meets up with the Girls at the club and they explain why they blew him off, he's only known them for about a day or two, three at most if you really want to give as much leeway as possible and stretch things out. And given that when he first met the Girls, they quite literally immediately wanted to bone him, and even liked his tears because "[he's] too beautiful to cry", it seems odd that they blew him off so quickly, as their stated reason for ditching him was been a jerk, and the only specific they give is that he talked about Civil War as foreplay, which they talk about in a 'straw that broke the camel's back' sort of manner, something that seems like it could easily been solved with a "shut up and embrace me". Now if this timeline had taken place over a couple of weeks it would be more plausible, but people usually overlook negative traits of someone they're enamored with, especially when they first meet them, and it can take alot of time for it to go away. So yeah, the situation is a little odd by how fast it all happened
And what's especially odd it that an Male character who takes an assertive role in flirting gets treated as a jerk or called an "misogynistic, outdated, regressive stereotype". Yet nobody seems to mind when a woman does it, with Gigi been a particularly good examples of this. Hell, in Ep 2 she flats out rapes Brett and doesn't suffer any repercussions for it, nor is she called out on it
Another weird thing one could quickly pick up on is that it seems that The Shadow Council is holding Humanity back, with this most apparently seen in Episode 8. In this episode Reagan, Brett and Rand go to Moon and meet Buzz Aldrin, who along with his fellow Astronauts has built a thriving, highly advanced, seemingly Utopian society, which happened after they landed, then immediantly started to defy the Shadow Council's orders, with noone, not the Shadow Council nor Cognito Inc been able to do anything about it except cover it up. Now the reason I bring this up is that they were able to do this even though they had infinitesimally small amount of resources, only about a dozen or so people and no contact with anyone else for over half a century, all while constantly fighting off Giant Moon Worms, yet despite all those disadvantages, compared to them, everyone on Earth seems to be stuck in the past
And speaking of been stuck in the past, that brings us back to Still Valley, which gets the Team to start Rejecting the Past. When they first arrive, most of the team are excited and look back fondling at the 80's and it's Pop Culture, with the only exception being Reagan cause her Dad threw out the TV to make her focus on Science. Over the course of the episode, most of the Team grows a disdain for the town, except Brett, who using it to relive the past and ends up been mutated by Nostalgia Max, but ends up been talked down by Reagan, who convinces him that he needs to stop living a fantasy and accept things as they were, after which they all go home. A seeming fine episode teaching a decent lesson that we shouldn't be caught up in Nostalgia, but then something unusual happens, after the trip Brett and Reagan watch The Goonies and express disgust over an autistic kid been chained to a wall, now anyone who's watched the film can tell you that this action was taken by the Film's Main Villains, and was done to show how despicable they were, yet Brett and Reagan talk about it as though it was a commonly endorsed attitude of the time, even though that couldn't be further from the truth. So it's odd that they're criticizing the movie for having it
Another weird thing about Still Valley that brought up as weird in-show, is the fact that whenever Andre speaks, a gong rings, even when there isn't one around, which drives him nuts and plays no small role in getting him to hate it there
Now put it all together:
Despising Rafe Masters who's a send-off to James Bond and other Action Heroes
Been against Private gun ownership
Women been attracted to Docile Men
The Shadow Council is holding Humanity back
And people Rejecting the Past, even when it makes no sense in context
And there you have it, The Shadow Council's real plan, if there was one piece of truth that they told Cognito Inc is that the World is getting harder to control, and once Humanity starts to head for the stars, they may lose their grip. So their plan is to effective neuter Humanity, get them to despise their heroes, give up their weapons, be more docile, hold the World back while they get people to start rejecting the past, and by the end of it all, they'll have a populace with no heroes to aspire to, no means or will to fight back or rebel against them, and no cultural or historical roots to look back on, and once that is done, it won't matter if Humanity makes it to outer space, they'll remain neatly under The Shadow Council's control
Every Dictator's Wet Dream Come True
Anyone alive
I have a suggestion of what the truth about The Robes would have been if season 3 had been created. Clearly they aren't human, but aliens haven't featured enough in the series to make that a suitable reveal for them. There are reptoids & atlantians in the show, but there's no good reason why it should be one of them over the other. The Robe's interest in Regan is what led me to the following theory- the Robes are artificial intelligence machines. Maybe they were made years ago and want Regan to give them an upgrade, or maybe they were made and went back in time, but the show started with Regan solving artificial intelligence- seems fitting the finale would head in the same direction.
Opinions on the whole antisemitic mumbo jumbo?

Following a now-deleted series of tweets from writer Chase Mitchell breaking the news, series creator Shion Takeuchi confirmed on Twitter that Netflix has officially discontinued Inside Job and its second season. Shion wrote in her Twitter statement: "Over the years, these characters have become real people to me, and I am devastated not to be able to watch them grow up. Reagan and Brett deserved to get their ending and finally find happiness". We originally hesitated on making an announcement on this to avoid speculation, however the inevitable has come to pass.
Inside Job was an animated series full of promise, and we share the pain with the showrunner and crew that they are no longer given the chance to make good on those promises. Unfortunately, our best guess as to why the show was cancelled may have to do with Part 2 of Season 1 performing less well than Part 1 on its opening week (the metric that Netflix seems to use to determine the fate of its original productions).
This wiki, its subreddit and Discord server will continue to operate in the hopes of keeping the Inside Job community alive and well. We would like to thank the many fans for contributing and sharing your love for the show, but most importantly, we'd like to thank everyone who helped bring the show to life - from creator and producers, to the talented voice cast, to the writers, animators and background designers, and all between and beyond. You have our highest gratitude for allowing us to connect with these characters that we love to laugh and cry with.
We are immensely disappointed at Netflix for choosing this outcome despite our devotion to the series and its previous renewal for a second season, and will not hesitate to call out its repeated pattern of unexplained cancellations. Nevertheless, we're thankful it has given the series a chance to get off the ground at all, for however short of a time it was. Inside Job, while being an intellectual property that belongs to Netflix, really belongs with the fans who now have the opportunity to put together their own ending to this story. We encourage fans now more than ever to speak up and share your fanwork of this series. As I write this, Inside Job is trending at number 1 on Twitter in the United States. Keep it going. We would love to see what you can come up with.

I've been going with Rongan
It's heavily implied early on in part 1 that raegan is autistic (the phrase used is aspergers but that isn't medically recognised anymore and the term has been disowned by the autistic community), could this be added to the "personality" section of her page?
Do you have proof reagan ridley is bisexual and she is not single currently on season 2 bro
Added a page for the Illuminati, which is currently a stub. I only added information I remember from watching the show a year ago, plus what I've seen in the part 2 trailer. If someone else watched part 1 more recently (or rewatched it), there might be some more information to add to the page.
